Track Invitation Status
Every invitation moves through a small set of states. The assessment view shows all of them at a glance.
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Sent | The email went out. The candidate has not opened the link. |
| Opened | They opened the link but have not started. |
| Checking | The device check is running. |
| Ready | The check passed and the runtime is cached. The clock is not running. |
| In progress | The attempt started. The timer is running. |
| Submitted | The candidate submitted. Grading is queued or running. |
| Scored | The report is ready. |
| Expired | The invitation window closed before they started. |
| Abandoned | Started, but the time limit elapsed without a submission. |
Reading the states
Stuck on Opened usually means the candidate looked, saw the time commitment, and decided to do it later. Normal. Worth one reminder near the expiry.
Stuck on Checking or Ready is the one to watch. It often means their device failed the check — see The Workspace Won't Start. Reach out; this is rarely the candidate's fault and they may be embarrassed to ask.
Abandoned is signal, but ambiguous signal. It might mean the task was too large for the limit. If several candidates abandon the same assessment, look at the task before you look at the candidates.
Reminders and reissues
Send a reminder from the invitation row. Reissuing generates a fresh link and resets the expiry; the old link stops working immediately.
If a candidate needs to start over for a legitimate reason, reset the attempt rather than reissuing — see An Assessment Was Interrupted.
