Send Your First Assessment

The fastest path from signup to a real report. Budget about fifteen minutes, most of it reading the task you pick.

1. Create an assessment

Go to Assessments → New. Give it a name that matches the role you are hiring for — "Senior Backend, Payments" beats "Test 1" when you have twenty of them.

2. Pick a task

Start with the library. Filter by stack and by what you want to see — a reservation service surfaces concurrency thinking, a refactoring task surfaces judgement about existing code. See Choose a Task.

Resist writing a custom task for your first run. Learn what the reports look like first.

3. Set the time limit

Most library tasks are built for 45 to 90 minutes. The default is a good starting point. See Time Limits and the Timer.

4. Invite a candidate

Add a name and an email, and send. The candidate gets a link that runs a device check before anything starts. See Invite Candidates.

Send one to yourself first. Take the assessment as a candidate would. Fifteen minutes inside the workspace will tell you more about whether the task fits the role than any amount of reading.

5. Read the report

When the candidate submits, grading runs and the report appears under the assessment. Start with the timeline, not the score — see Read a Candidate Report.
